I find the C5 convertible top has great insulation against heat and sound due to the inner liner. In my opinion $3500 is a LOT to pay when the stock top performs so well.

I purchased a custum made hard top for my vert from a forum member. It is the roof of an frc with a waterfall center molded in. Four bolts takes off the tonnough cover and the same four bolts installs the hard top. With the hard top on it looks exactly like an frc until you look inside and see the waterfall. At shows I tilt the top up about 7 inches off the windsheild, makes for a cool display.

One man's opinion.....
When I ordered our '02 Vert I was thinking like a C1, C2 guy and wanted a two top car. I bought a Smoothline top had it delivered to my local body shop, paid the $500 to prep, paint it and thought that it was too cool. After a short time of owning the Vette I realized the vast improvement made to the C5 convertible top didn't warrant a hard top. After owning the hard top for 2 years and not using it, I sold it for $2800.

If you ever come across something to make a FRC into a vert let me know.
Their is a company around the Orlando FL area that will make your Z or FRC into a vert but its big bucks 14-k for the complete job. We looked into it a few years ago for our yellow Z. Cant remember the name of the place.
