Default HID kit install issues

Hi all,

I purchased the $150 ebay low beam (9006) kit and I'm slightly confused about the wiring...figured the experts here could help out.

I looked at the good overview that was provided here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1687872
and this pic from his set shows the wiring with one pair of leads coming from the HID bulb connecting to the power stabilizer and an outlet on the power stabilizer left open to connect to the factory harness (is that correct?)

I ordered the same set (9006) from the same vendor and my kit seems to have an additional set of leads (see blue lines and blue wire in pic below). What do those leads connect to, how have others who have ordered this kit run the connections.

Everyone says this is a quick plug and play kit, but I am having some technical difficulties...could the experts who have installed this kit weigh in here...I need the BRIGHT LIGHTS

Thanks!

the factory harness would plug into the ballast input, but it won't reach.

you need to plug the larger yellow male plug into that part of the ballast instead.

then take the smaller part of the same wire (with the blue and black wire) and plug that into your factory harness. be sure to pull them out of that rubber grommet with the 4 wires.

mount your ballast to the inside of the splash guard or somewhere similar like this:

Thanks, that makes sense... the 4 prong rubber prong ring is what was throwing me off - so I should cut that up to get the wires out of it? I hadn't heard others mention anything about needing to do that in the installation, but it does look like that is required.

Yes get rid of the rubber ring and you're set.

Did you mount the ballast using double sided foam tape? or did you actually bolt it down?

Mount the Ballast under the brake cooling duct with double sided tape. It worked great with my install, and it hides the boxes too

Thanks for the reply, I installed the HID's last night. I used 3m double sided moulding tape to mount the ballast. I had to cut the wires that connecte to the factory harness in order to switch the positive and negative wires. I did not solder the wires, I just used butt connectors and a lot of electrical tape.
