Default Non-uniform tire pressures?

I just had Non-run flats installed on my 1998 vette today. They are Kumho ASX and they ride fantastic!

My only problem is this: The installation shop told me I should run 35lbs in back and 45lbs in front due to the offset weight of the car. This does not make sense to me and it sets off my tire pressure sensors over and over.

Are they right?

If so, how do I stop the TPMS beeping from the front tires?

If wrong, what should the tire pressure be? The MAX on the tire says 51 lbs.

Thanks.

Amen to that. My tired heat up after simple city driving for 30 minutes and are up around 32-34 PSI, but the right side is always 1-2 higher than the left. But I had the people who did the oil change due the pressure at 30 and the DIC showed 31 right (front and back) and 30 left.

Not a bit surprised the tire shop recommended 45psi in front. You will experience a horrible ride and premature tire wear....soon you'll be back to buy new tires.

As the others have advised follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommendation on optimal tire pressures. They spent a long time calculating and analyzing data to come up with recommendations that will give you the best treadlife, handling and ride characteristics. How much time did the tire monkey spend analyzing data before he made his recommendation?

Thanks so much guys!

I figure with 14 replies so far and NOT ONE person thinks this makes sense.....it is time to "release the air" and go back to 30 psi all around.

Thanks again...I love this forum.

30 psi cold takes the centre out of my Michelins. I'm trying 28 psi to get a more even tread wear.

The tire shop has their head screwed in a pipe. Most people are happy with 30 all around as the factory suggests.

I'll tag on another burning question: My tires have a Max pressure of 50psi. Will running them at 30 cold to be too low and potentially cause tread separation?
