Just wondering what the latest is with LED switchbacks?
I had them installed for awhile using Suprfun’s original mod (thanks jdm & suprfun!), only problem was it rains a lot here & those extra bulbs kept failing… they’d get wet & shatter. That mod was great & worked quite well up until rainy season, just wasn't practical for Hawaii daily driver, I was like replacing those “hidden bulbs” weekly. I remember seeing another mod by Suprfun but can’t find it now, believe it was splicing an LED flasher into an under-dash wiring harness. Is that still the best way to go? Thought I read something about simply replacing the stock flasher unit with a heavy duty flasher unit… Is that an option as well? I’m just trying to get the most current gouge and really want to get the switchbacks back into my clear-corners. I just installed my HID kit; those LEDs would top things off nicely!
I fooled around with LEDs awhile ... phantom bulbs, ballast resistors, etc. Problem is bulds and resistor get HOT! The bulb blows when it gets wet. Finding a place to mount the resistor is difficult ... almost burned a hole in my brake cooler tube. What LED bulb style are you using? I tried the forward lighting bulb. It was not bright enough because the bulb "stands up" in the housing instead of facing forward. Tower style are too tall and fat to fit fixture. Bottom line ... I went back with stock bulbs. Anyone interested in some 7ohm resistors let me know, swwjr05@yahoo.com ( actually each one is four twenty-five watt resistors wired together)

We stock the Amber 18LED Tower Bulbs and they fit perfectly ... they're very bright and look outstanding IMO. I have no resistors in line, I just let them Hyper-Flash. Nobody in traffic will miss or mistake my intentions They could even be considered an added safety feature.
I spliced in an LED flasher into the existing flasher wiring harness today. I think that is the best solution. In looking at the schematics I thought there might have been another way around this, but I did not see one once I dug deeper.

Great Picture Richard, those LED towers look phenominal in your tinted corners

Hope someone can square me away!

How about doing a search on "gouge" and "switchback" ?
I couldn't find Mark's (Suprfun) thread about installing the additional flasher module either. PM me your email address and I can forward you a copy of Mark's write up for installing the flasher module. You can always try contacting Mark as well. He's a real nice guy always willing to help.
