I know that this has been discussed at length before but I just want to make sure before I do something stupid. Is there any benefit to cutting the shroud in front of the radiator, where I put the black box, inorder to increase the airflow to my Blackwing?
The benefit is the cooler air from outside the engine compartment getting into the filter.
Without enclosing your filter with the BLACKWING specific SLP cover (black box?) referred to as an "ice box cover", the air is not guaranteed to all go into your BLACKWING though.
Since you have a Z06, you do benefit from additional air coming in through the front bumper cover.
You have an (improved) air filter now. Cut the shroud only and you might see further improvement with the intake of cooler air. Cut the shroud and enclose the BLACKWING and you have a cold air intake. I refer to them all as cooler air intakes since it causes less arguments.
It looks like you also need to clean out your radiator. Some of that debris will also enter through a cut shroud and attach itself to your BLACKWING. That will not benefit your filtration. That debris might also cause cooling issues.

You don't need to remove the radiator. You might have to remove the top radiator cover (beneath the air bridge) to get all of the debris.
Carefully use a combination of compressed air, a soft brush or gentle flow of water to remove the debris. The aluminum fins are easy to bend.
You can DIY or buy an after market screen to keep most of the debris from entering the large opening beneath the radiator.
I use a screen from ELITE ENGINEERING. They're a site supporting vendor listed to the left on the main menu page.
If you havent cut it yet I have the cooler top and bottom for a blackwing with a cut shroud. I took it off to put on my maggie. Let me know if your interested I havent put it out for sale yet but will soon.
