Default Pics from my HUD install

Thanks to Forum member Ryan's Daddy Dan-Na, for letting me use his Garage/Tools/Time and those tasty burgers
Our two cars getting to know each other

All the Parts out of the car

Couple pics of what the Car looks like with no interior.

Doing some work in the Car

Trimming the cut out where the HUD Bezel goes

Working on the gauge cluster

Car put all back together and ready to cruise with the new HUD

Special thanks to Pace this, Kit cam well packed with printed and DVD directions. Install was straight forward and the directions told you everything you need.

I think if it just came with an already put together wiring harness for the HUD switch it would have made life a lot easier instead of re-wiring the supplied adapters, other than that couldn't ask for much more and I love my new HUD.

not that hard at all, just a buttload of screws we used a muffin pan to keep track of screws from different parts of the car, having the top down or the roof off would have made things easier but we did just fine with just the doors open.

well, There was some beer drinking and grilling involved, also some technicle difficulties with the wiring so about 6 hours, maybe 4:30 of actual work on the car the rest was cursing and eating and the such.

Thanks for the great write up. If I have a 01 with the proper cluster do you still have to remove all the dash and center console parts like you did? Does it make the install a lot easier if I don't have to do the cluster? Thanks and seeing you guys do this stuff is making me really think I want to as well.

You do have to remove the cluster as you have to install the HUD control and associated wiring, You also have to cut your dash, i used a dermal. It is about I’d say a 3/10 on the skill level just time consuming because you have to remove around 30-40 various Phillips and torx screws. I bought a used kit from forum member PACETHIS and it came with a DVD and printed instructions, I suggest watching the DVD all the way through and have it in a lap top so you can go back for quick reference as well as the printed directions.

If you have a 99 or newer all you will need is the bezel, HUD projector, HUD switch and HUD switch wiring harness, and or adapter like I got but I also had to re-wire the new adapter into the one on the car which is kinda a PITA, if you could I would just order a one from GM and trash the old one (Be sure to buy the harness for a HUD car). I really suggest the kit because it comes with directions and if I was to order just to projector from GM it would cost me more than I paid for my entire kit.
