Within the past week there have been several times when the headlights did not "pop up" automatically when it got dark. I even tried to turn them on using the switch but they didn't come on. I actually had to stop. Turn off the engine and turn it back on...then tried the lights again and they turned on.
Anyone else experience this problem??
Sorry we are talking about a 99 automatic coupe here

Reason: forgot car infor
The next time it happens, look outside and see if the lamps are actually on, but didn't rise. The possible difference in a bad headlamp switch at the steering column or a bad headlamp control module at the right frame rail behind the right headlamp.
Turn off twilight sentinel - that way the headlights are working through the headlight switch not the automatics.
If you have the problem try recycling the headlight switch on the stalk a few times (do it quite hard) to see if they then work
If they come on its probably the headlight switch. Try the easy fix first. Spray some electronics cleaner (Radio Shack $5) into the switch as it may clean up the contacts. If that doesn't work it will be a switch change. You can do that DIY and there's a How To on the Forum.
