Default water temp?

Need some help I have and 02 It was a big 81 deg today in puyallup Washington I was driving around doing like 35-40 mph and noticed my temp guage read around 220-230 that seems awfully hot I had the coolant flush in feb.I think I might put it up on ramps and see if something's clogging my radiator or maybe my thermastat ready to take a dive any other suggestions. Thanks Doug

Pull the plastic shoud (plastic cover) off the top of the radiator and take a look in there and make sure you don't have a build up of crap sitting on the radiator blocking the flow. 90% of the time it's that or the fans not running that causes high temps. I had so much crap on mine it looked like a nest but once I cleared it....much of my problem was solved. My Vette is SC'd so when I in the boost a lot it will get hot. I'm going with an oil intercooler and high flow radiator in the spring to keep it cool on hot summer months while playing with the boost.

Even in 90 degree heat my '01 with 105K miles runs at 190 degrees.
If I am sitting in traffic after it has warmed up it will creep up to the 220-230 range, but as soon as starts moving I'm back down to 190.
