I have all the symptoms of a bad hazard switch. Some times the turn signals are dead, but if i press the hazards a couple of time, they will work. The right side blinks faster even after replacing the bulbs. The issue which confuses me is that the parking lamp on the side with the problem is a lot dimmer than the other side. Can this also be caused by a bad hazard switch?
I don't think the Hazard switch would cause that. I think it sounds like a ground problem. As far as changing the switch I just did mine using someones post about removing the stereo it was a 20 minute piece of cake. Good luck!
Ok this is really weird. It's not the hazard switch. I replaced and the problem is still there, just now it is persistent. The right indicator on the dash is stuck on only when the lights are on. After a couple right turns i hear the 'ding' which comes on when the blinkers are left on too long. The 5w filament works and flashes, the 20w filament does not work. I probed the socket and got a rapid flash on the probe when i tested pin one (5w) and a solid light on pin 2 (20w). I tried 3 bulbs and tested one bulb and got both filaments to light. It looks like the bulbs are making contact with the pins. I even bent the leads on the bulbs out so they would definitely make contact.
Although the socket looks good, can this be cause based on my symptoms?

When I had this problem, it was definitely the bulb. Are you 100% sure you're using the right bulbs? Also, because water sometimes gets into that socket, you may want to clean it out with some contact cleaner and make sure those contacts are sparkling clean. I went through this quite a few times and now I can change one of those bulbs while filling up with gas.
I had the same problem with my last C5. 2001, dealership tried everything, finally sold it due to having every possible c5 problem. Don't like being negative....Good Luck!!!

I am having the same problem but I do not know how to change the hazard light switch. You mention you removed the radio to do this. Where did you find the instructions on how to replace this swich.
