I think the backstraight at RA is long enough to make pretty good use (advantage) of the extra revs/hp in the C6. I'd be suprised if a C5Z (stock) would outrun a C6Z here. I believe Reese *** did a 1:35.xx in a stock C6Z in a vetteweb article. I'm not sure a C5Z is going to match that. I know my 01 (on 7 yr old F1's albiet) is off that by a decent amount.
To compare you'd have to run them both on their respective F1 rubber (fresh tires), (EMT's for the C6, and SC's for the C5).
On a smaller tighter track (limerock, blackhawk farms, etc) the C5Z probably has a slight edge. It has a few key advantages, including a slight weight advantage, stiffer chassis, more aggressive gearing, and a substantially less unsprung weight than the C6.
This is one flying lap though, not getting into brake thermal capacity (C6Z advantage) oiling system (C6Z advantage), built in coolers, etc
Road Atlanta and VIR the C5Z is faster then the C6Z in the hands of the same driver who knows the tracks
and N-Ring times are for rag readers.
I call : , I've driven my C5Z with old race tires and a C6Z with street tires on two different tracks, back to back. I would say I could go almost as fast if not faster in the C6Z on street tires. Equal tire the C6Z and C5Z arn't even in the same league.
Last weekend we were at Grattan and I was following a 03 Z in a 06 Z, the 03 was on Kuhmo 710s and I was on street tires (supercar) and I was all over his bumper in the corners & when I finally got by I drove away from him.
BTW The C6Z wasn't mine so I wasn't driving it nearly as hard as I could have.
I'd say the C6Z is about .5-.6 seconds faster in the 1/4 all things being equal
