MayDay ...---... Oil Level Sensor - Pic - Which is correct??
Sorry for the Mayday, but stuck with a problem.
I am putting in a new low oil level sensor in an Lt1 motor. The Photo on the left is how it came out of the box.... The photo on the right is how the old one came off the oil pan.
Need to know if I am to break off the tip of the new one to expose the sensor probes or leave it as is.
I am in somewhat of a panic. The car is stuck right in the middle of the driveway and can't get my other car out.

Why do I do this for other people?
The one on the left is the proper one. The "flotation" device off the other one has broken off DO NOT BREAK OFF THE NEW ONE. It kinda works as the same principle as the mechanism in your toilet
The "tip" of the old one is probably at the bottom of the oil pan. It works like a float to sense when the oil level is to low. I am guessing that that it quit working and that is why you are changing it out. This should probably be in the C4 section. I hope this helps. Best of luck.
