Default Side Grilles?

Hey, from my time being here on Corvette Forum, I've seen quite a few Corvettes with side grilles.....now, what are they exactly for? Aesthetically pleasing only, or a far more important role?

Oh and can anyone post a link to a good site that can provide these side grilles. Doesn't matter, can be either aesthetic only or functional.

Default ZO6 brake ducting

They are supposedly for the air cooling ducts for the rear brakes on a ZO6. You can buy them from West Coast Corvettes or just about anywhere that handles Corvette parts. They are generally part of the exterior trim package for the ZO6 that include the fog light screens and the screens in the rear fascia as well. Hope this helps out.

The true function of those grilles are inlets for rear brake cooling ducts! If you give a crap about your street rep,,,don't install them unless they ARE functional! You won't believe the crap you will get for the fake ones even if you never hear it yourself!

If you are going to install the rear cooling screens and ducts, I'd recommend using the functional ones. IMO, the stick on type just looks tacky and you can tell it is just that - stick on.

I have an external fuel pump inside of one of the vents, so it actually cools it off

The grills are cool, just don't go with the stick on variety.

Funny, because other than the fact that they say "Z06" I don't think they're aesthetically pleasing at all. Now there have been a few post recently where courageous folks have installed the ACI (I think) ones that are molded in. Those are very nice.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the brake ducts? My brother wants to put the functional ducts on his coupe but wants to use GM parts.
