While driving my 2003 with 5600 miles, after coming out of winter storage, I noticed the check engine icon was lit and by chance I needed an inspection as well. Much to my surprise, the service manager at a "high" profile Chevy dealer told me they could not inspect the car until the light goes out? And I should drive the car until it does, then come back for an inspection! This vehicle is driven on perfect Sunday afternoon's and while only 100 miles has lapsed since my conversation, I am driving illegally in the State of NY and the light is still lit. Guidance please!!!!
I don't remember the exact procedure, but I do know it is simple and can be found on this forum. Your DIC will give you all the digital trouble codes, which you can write down. Then you can find what they mean, also on the forum.
Follow this link to erase the code to get your inspection. If you write down the code number before you erase it, you can research it further here on the forum and track down the problem...but this will at least get you out of the weeds for the time being.
It might be just a simple emssions problem....I've had some issues with mine...if you have LT's I'm guessing thats what it might be. Try WOT and see if that clears it or simply go to an auto parts place that can plug up the computer and read the code.
Probably code GQ1000, for garage queen, get out and drive it more. You can check the codes yourself and reset then to make the light go out. Get the code and post it up here.

Get a bottle of "STP COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER" and add it when your tanks are almost empty. Put it in and fill up with some fresh gas. Take a nice long drive and you will see your problem will probably be solved.
Just be sure you get the complete fuel system cleaner made by STP.This also works when a fuel gage sticks.
