It'a a messy PITA. Expect to buy a new pulley as the stock plastic one will invariable break. Buy a good PS puller, as you will need that to install the new pulley (and remove the remnants of the old one)
Expect to spend about 2 hours doing it - longer if you haven't pulled the alternator bracket before. Take your time and you'll be fine.
I haven't seen any write up online, but follow the shop manual (Helm) and you'll be fine.
I had mine changed 2 weeks ago took the dealer 3 + hours. It's really hard to get at. Need a special tool to remove some pulley .first. They installed the pump twice. The first time they used a non OEM part. and started leaking the same day. Then I had them order a GM part and they had to redo it. Believe me ,,, unless you know what you are doing ,, it's not a picnic. Nothing I would want to tackle..
Which pulleys need to be changed? and should I just buy a under drive pulley while its apart? I heard you have to take the abs system off to take the pulley off. What special tools do I need?
The ABS does not have to come all the way off. I just used a bungie strap and pulled it in front of the alternator. You have to bend the brake lines slightly to do it. The bracket holding the ABS unit must be removed to get the pulley off though. There are 4 small bolts with 13mm heads and one large bolt that holds the bracket in place. There are 4 more bolts that hold the pump on. Two are holding a metal plate and two hold the pump in place. It took me about a hour and a half the SECOND time. Yes I used GM reman pumps right from the dealer. The first one leaked badly out the front shaft seal. Drain as much as you can useing a Turkey baster to empty the resivior. I reused my original pulley over.
