Default memory nuances

my memory control seems strange....sometimes when i put the key in the ignition, it adjusts everything and other times i have to initiate it by pushing one of the memory buttons....is there a timer for it or something? also, how do you make one memory the primary and another the secondary or tertiary? it seems that the memory "two" is the primary right now....the owners manual does not address these issues.....

thanx in advance.......

Door must be closed before key is inserted to activate memory settings. To change your key fob to primary (memory 1), go thru the fob relearn process on you DIC. (See owner's manual).
Hope that helps.

The memory settings are recalled when you open the doors with the fob once you close the door and after you put the key in the ignition. On mine, Fob 1 gives setting 1 and Fob 2 gives setting 2.

If you leave the car unlocked and then just reinsert the key you need to hit the memory button.

For my 2002, you have to have unlocked the door(s) with a key fob to get it to adjust the seats when you put the key in the ignition. Which memory setting it uses will depend on which key fob you use - the key fobs are numbered on the back.

The memory on mine is possessed at times as well. The other day, after getting in, the seat moved all the way forward crunching my legs against the dash Had to completly reset the memory. Now what the hell would cause that? And no, no height challenged folks drive my car. It's just me. Weird.

My 99 has always had a mind of it's own. Works well most of the time, but now and then it acts up. It likes to work opposite...the seat moves back at key in, instead of forward, and the wheel will go forward & mirrors go to the wrong setting. It corrects if you pull the key and open and close the door.

Looks like I'm not the only one with random memory quirks. Turning the memory feature off then back on occasionally seems to help.
