Looks like the same ones I bought from BMW ( Part # 51-71-1-960-752 ). You dont even notice them unless you are looking for them on the car.

they look good, however I'd be concerned about speed bumps.

EE offers a frame rails with jacking pucks built in for roughly double the price.

No problem with the BMW pucks and speed bumps........mine have been in two years, no issues

Only $7.00 each from BMW

Cant see why you'd want to leave them fitted. Its a twist fit and takes about 2 seconds if you want to jack the car up. Leaving them in place you just run the risk of losing one.

BTW I have the elite engineering pucks. A few more $$$ but these things are a work of art. Great paperweight too.

http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/jacking-pads.html

Mind you, they really are normally used as paperweights nowadays because I have rocker rails and you can jack from them if you need to.

I'm thinking of keeping them fitted in case I need a repair away from home. Or as most likely will happen, I'll totally forget to put them on before a scheduled repair.

Thx for the replies.

The BMW ones snap securely into place, I highly doubt there is a risk in loosing one, and even scraping one over a speed bump given their location and low profile. It is usually the center of the rocker between the jacking points that hit the top of the speed bumps.
Also I have had my Vette to the dealer twice for warranty work, no worry that if I had the removable ones that they would use them since they are already on the car or that I remembered to have them with me. It is a great convenience to just have them on there all the time. And the price is cheep when compared to the removable machined AL ones.

I bought those very ones your looking at. Like them a lot. The only thing that I had to remove them for was when the Service Column Lock light came on and the tow truck had to use those places to chain the car down. Other wise, they stay in and I have not had an issue with them. I do carry a flat blade screw drive with me though now just in case I need them off again.

Try getting the Elite Engineering frame rails protectors. Have the jacking pucks built in and you protect the frame rails at the same time.

There's two BMW styles...the round one seem to be the most popular and allow for the rocker protection rails to be installed w/o interference later.
