I'm looking to put a cam only package into my car with 2.73's and stock converter. question is since I never plan to 1/4 mile the car but do like to pull from a 30mph roll once in awhile do you look at it as a waste? everyone tells me get gears and a stall even though It won't see the strip. thanks

Definately GEARS Some folks do 3.42 (I'd do 3.73, but that's me) If you won't be doing any 1/4 mile stuff I would not bother with the Converter. Give Chris a call at east Coast Supercharging. (609) 752-0321 www.eastcoastsupercharging.com

I agree with everyone that recommended ECS. As for the mods without ever going to the track, I've had ECS install headers, a H/C package, and 4.10 gears. The car will probably never see a track, but jumping on it whenever I can safely do so is a blast and I consider the cost worth every penny.
With 2.73s It would be silly performance wise to put in a big cam [long duration -high life etc.] The cam change makes it all the more important to go to lower gears [3.42s or 3.73s] as it changes your power band and could actually have a negative impact on performance.
A big cam will actually hurt low end torque. If you can only afford one thing, cam or rear gears, do the gear change now and get the cam and heads later! Im not just talking bs here, I have been building street rods and drag racing for over 40 years. The worst mistake people make is over carburation [to much fuel in any situation] and too big a cam without the proper gearing.
just friendly advice... Dave
