I have a 2001 6speed. I encountered a PULL KEY WAIT 10 SEC message and installed a bypass module from Corvettes of Houston and then use the 12 volt adapter to unlock the column. Unfortunately it still won't unlock but the message does not display anymore. I must of tried numerous suggestions without success. Now I dread the idea of having to tow it to a dealer. Which mean tow damage and dealing with the dealer. If I understand correctly....It would be covered through GM Recall? My only other option is to manually disengage the locking mechanism manually which involves deactivating the SIR among other things. Im hoping someone here has an idea what other options I have?

One thing I see in your post is that you installed a CLB in a car with the column LOCKED. The CLB doesn't unlock the column. You have to unlock the column (per the instructions) THEN install the CLB to avert future bad reports to the BCM. You did well to buy the CLB (I see you have the COH version) but need to read the instructions and sticky on Column Lock at the top of C5 Tech and you will be fine. I would suggest you NOT take your car to any dealer to try and correct this.

well I think he meant he installed the module then used the adaptor to unlock it but it wasn't clear which is why I suggested the battery disconnect and then try again....but yeah you are right...you have to unlock it first...

I want to thank everyone for thier suggestions. Unfortunately it looks like I will be removing the lock plate and installing a CLB afterwards. Another project for the weekend.
