Just replaced my water pump, went out at 70k miles! Anyway, also replaced the serpentine belt and now when i start cold, I get a terrible squeal.....goes away after about 3 minutes of warming up. Possiblity of a bad belt? Tensioner going bad? HMMMM>.......
I just went through the same thing on my 2001 vert at 125,000 miles. Turns out that there is a tensioner on a small belt at the bottom that needed to be replaced. Before that was found the AC compressor went bad as did the alternator. And we replaced the main serpentine belt.
Since the belt is new - and you had some work done - see if there's any grease or oil that got on the belt. This was the first thing we tried when this happened to me. However in my case it was the tensioner.
I had the squeal and changed the following in order before I finally found the real problem
1. Changed the main serpantine belt.
2. Changed the tensioner pulley on the serpantine belt.
3. Changed the a/c tensioner pulley and belt on Friday evening.
I found out that the single bolt hole on the a/c tensioner was not a true circle anymore and it was sitting at an angle to the belt. I drove up to BG Saturday with no squeals.
