Default AC always on?

Im hoping this is an EXTREMELY stupid question, but I just got a vette 3 days ago and I'm still learning about it. Whenever I turn on the car, AC/AUTO goes on. Then, I hit AC and i guess auto shuts off, but only for that ignition cycle, as soon as I turn it back on, AC comes on again. I played with the memory settings, to no avail. What am I missing? here are some pictures of the vette btw.. awesome car!

It is most likely the memory setting.

Put your seats, mirrors, etc. where you want them, then turn the AC off.
Hold down the memory 1 or 2 button for at least 5 seconds to set it in the memory.
The Ac should not turn on when you start the car after that....

Welcome to the Forum!

Don't feel stupid for asking questions!

We all had to learn somehow!

Sometimes these cars seem to have a mind of their own, but usually there's something we can do to fix the problem.

I'm sure that won't be the last question you have about your car, so keep on asking!!!

Mine retains whatever setting it was on when I turned the car off, regardless of memory settings.

My a/c won't turn off for awhile after starting. WHen I push the a/c button it blinks at me and stays on. I assume because of the defrost.

When every you have the defroster on, your A/C will always turn on unless it is too cold outside.

Here is what it says in the owners manual

The air conditioning does not operate at
temperatures below approximately 35F to 40F
(2C to 4C). The air conditioning cools and
dehumidifies the air coming into the vehicle. The air
conditioning cannot be turned off in DEFROST, as it
helps to remove moisture from the vehicle. It also helps
to keep the windows clear.

I hardly ever push the defrost button. But for the first 5 minutes most days the a/c won't turn off. This seems to be temperature related.

What year, mine is a 2000 but the lights went out in the A/C so I have a newer unit and it is more strict on these parameters it seems. My old one was more forgiving.
