I was rolling through town on Saturday on my way with Momma Z for a cruise in the countryside. From a 2nd storey balcony behind us I heard a mature voice shout "Heyyy niiiiice Corrr-Vettt!"
I gave the guy a wave through the open roof and he followed it up with "Can you honk the horn on that Corrr-Vettt sir?"
I gave him a double honk and Momma and I were through the lights and smiling. Thanks mystery dude!
The other best comments are from kids. I'm usually under the trees in the park detailing the Vette and kids roll past in their parents' cars or in bikes and shout "Hey I like your car!". Those comments are special.
Then there was the LOL (little old lady) in the car that pulled in next to us the last time I was detailing in the park. She was well into her '80s and it was obvious her daughter was giving her a trip out in the car and a look at the flowers in the park. She put down her window and had a few nice comments about our car. I had a short chat with her and thanked he for her interest. That was special too.
Edit - I just remembered this one - I was at my first Corvette show two Sundays ago (Simcoe Ont) and right after our 8am arrival a lady and a young boy approached me. The lad was carrying a 9" long metal model of a red C4 Corvette. As my car is red (but a c5) they spotted me and approached. His mother explained that Corvettes were her son's favorite car and he had brought along his garage-sale aquisition to show us. He'd gotten the model for free from a local sale!
Of course I made a big fuss over the young fella's car and explained to him that it was actually a C4 model and mine was a later C5. Two cars down was buddy Milt with his mint gold '84 C4. I introduced Mom and son to Milt and the kid got the grand tour of Milt's car. The last time I looked they were having a photo op with the kid, his car, Milt and the C4. The kid was really quiet and obviously in total awe and I'll bet the day was the hot topic of his conversations for a long time. Isn't it great when our cars have an influence on the lives of others?
That was nice. The best I had was one evening when I had on my Marine Corps dress blues, and a chic rolled up to my car at the gas pump and said, "I don't know what is hotter, you or your car!"

I was setting at a red light a few months ago with the top down when 4WD 2 bedroom pickup pulls up next to me. A guy my age lowers the window and yells at me "Hey mister''. I look over and he gives me the thumbs up while saying "I like your style". He then promptly rolls up the window and leaves in a cloud of diesel smoke. That wasn't exactly the response I counted on when he called over but it goes to show you that a lot of people appreciated these cars.
A little boy chased me down on his bicycle, when I went to get gas the other day. As put the pump handle back in , he rolled up, all out of breath, and said, "pant pant pant....man that corvette is awesome!" I took him inside and bought him a snapple for the effort of chasing me down. He did peddle that sucker three blocks to catch up to me!
I love it when you pull up to a light and you see a bunch of kids plastered to the rear window of a minivan or SUV smiling and waving. Then you flip up the lights or something and they go bezerk. Makes me laugh and smile every time.
A few days ago I was sitting at a light and this Accord pulls up to me. The guy (about 20-25) in the passenger seat is leaning out the window and goes, "Oh man, oh man, you're just killing me. That shine. And that car is so LOW!", all while smiling and laughing in a positive, fun, way. We all left that traffic light smiling.

My fav is, when at a car show, the kids look at the speedo and say "Hey mister, will this thing really do 200mph?" When I say "I don't know, I've never tried it" they look at me like I'm nuts and walk off shaking their heads.
Our local high school cheerleaders were having a car wash at McDonalds
this past Saturday. I stopped in on my way to the South Central Indiana Corvette Club show. They all hollered that I needed to "get the Corvette washed!" Then they all did spirit hands .
Of course I would never let anyone else wash my vette, but sometimes the extra attention is fun.
the day i brought home my mag red '04, i stopped at a fast food joint...parked near the front windows where an elderly couple were sitting....as i'm sitting down to eat, they're getting up to leave and they stop by my table and the wife/lady says "son, that is the prettiest car i have ever seen"........man, i was grinning from ear to ear!!!!!!!!!!!
My car went into "service column lock" in the Wendy's parking lot Saturday afternoon. I got it running again Sunday morning.
I go through the drive thru of the same Wendy's this afternoon and the guy says, "I love this car. Is this the one that was sitting in the parking lot all day Saturday?" How embarassing!
