Ok guys I just got my corvette like a month and a half ago, Love it to death! Everything is totally opposite compared to the T/a that I had before hand, except in one area, playing with speed. In my t/a I would love to play with the throttle and when going for a cruise I usually go out to the boonies and play around take some pics, whatever, but my t/a was a t-top option and with the vert I see my self being a little thrown off by the no roof to protect my head and really haven't gotten the nerve to mess with it, but it also could be the fact that I don't want insurance to go up because of a ticket ya know just in case...Cause Im in real need to change insurance companies because 425 a month for both cars is a little ridicules I think for me being 21 and only one ticket on my record...but I dont know I just thought I would ask you all to see what you think and how far you push your verts... Thanks for any input guys!
I drive it like I stole it, I dont think about there not being a roof over my head(maybe I should) just go enjoy it, how many times did you roll any of your other cars,

Welcome to Corvette ownership You've made a good decision in your car purchase, But I would throw a word of caution into the mix. Please learn some respect for the capabilities (yours and the cars) and performance that you have at your toe tips. And for the sake of Duntov, don't use "Competition Mode" 'till you do.
I push mine hard at the track - not so hard on the road. I have done a ton to improve performance/handling and have added hard top, 6pt harnerss and harness bar to help with safety issues.
I still havent found a rollbar setup that I like that could be removable.
Welcome to Convetbile Heaven! I never worry about landing shiny side down, of course I will be celebrating my 52 birthday in about 3 weeks. Ya' know F.J. that these cars can pull close to 1 g on the skidpad. The biggest scenario you will encounter will be the "back end" wanting to pass you. If you are gonna explore the handling limits of a C-5, you will have an "OOOPS" moment that will scare you before your C-5 ever gets scared. You might think about some "Depends" diapers so you don't get your seat wet! Good Luck and drive careful!
I am not at all afraid of the Vert. I have been in Verts all my life whether it was a friends car or the 2 Verts I have owned, along with one T-Top Z28. I would say it isn't the car you should worry about as much as your abilities to control it. As long as you don't crash the vehicle, there is really no difference between a Vert/Targa/Z06. If you are worried about losing control of the vehicle and being in a serious accident where the roof may save your life, then I would probably rethink your driving habits and abilities. Also, if you have the stock RunFlats on the car and plan on doing some serious driving, I would recommend going to a non-runflat tire. The RunFlats have a tendency to not be so forgiving if you hit a bump in a turn. I switched out to Michelin PS2's and it made the car feel a whole lot safer in a hard turn.

The chances of rolling a Corvette are pretty small, with all the anti-skid gizzmos watching your every move you're pretty safe, just drive it with a little care.

Actually the Competition mode is exactly what you want if you just want to burn off your tires. Competition mode disables traction control but leaves Active Handling on. That way if you're doin a burnout and go sideways the Active Handling will grab and put you back in control.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em....................
Personally, unless you are an accomplished competition driver I'd say NEVER turn off Active Handling.
Get a hard hat and run it.... J.K..... I run mine hard with the top down, do you really think that plastic top is going to save you in a high speed rollover?
