Default Z06 vs Convertible weight

I have been hearing that there is a big difference the weight of a C5 convertible, and a C5 Z06 is much different. What is the difference? I have been looking online, and am seeing only about a 93lb difference. Is that correct?

How much does a C5 vert weigh? My Z weighed 3096lbs with no driver and 1/2 tank of gas.

Not a huge difference to the Z06. However, the Corvette 'vert is one of the few cars that are actually lighter than it's non-vert counter part (targa/hatchback in this case).

Wow, I cannot beleive that is it. It is nothing at all to talk about. I was just thinking about all of the options that they did not include in the Z06 (or were not available). You would think it is not a big deal for only 100lbs. I know it is for performance, and some cost, but I expected a lot more difference in weight. Between the tire sensors, and the front, and back glass, that probbably is half of it. Thanks for the answers though, I was really curious.

This information is incorrect.

'vert should read 3210.

Jolitaly, I was thinking the SAME thing. I was next to a coupe, 2003 same as mine, and the weight was not much different on the door stickers. I was under the inpression there was like a 500lb + difference between the 2. THis is nothing against the cars, I LOVE mine to death. Just was wondering why the lack of options if the weight difference is minimal....I know it is a performance vehicle....Again, I was just curious....

Vehicle weight is not listed on cars. You have to weigh them. The 3400 is with passengers. I had my car at the track last Friday and with me it was 3279 and I am right at 180. The 01 Z06 weighs 3100 give or take a few. The guy who was 3096 a few posts up has headers which will save a few pounds....

The sticker on the door is not it's actual weight. That sticker is the GVW (Gross vehicle weight). That is the maximum allowable total weight of a road loaded vehicle , including the weight of the vehicle itself plus fuel, passengers and cargo. If your towing with it, then you would include whatever your towing.

I had the car weighed before the headers were installed. It may be a few lbs lighter now.

My Z was weighed last week as I was getting it corner-balanced. 3098 lbs with a half tank of gas, detailing stuff and two helments in the trunk

Default OK if you don't like that source...........

Ok , if you don't like the Corvette Action Center as a source then what about idavette.com which quotes C5 curb weight as : Curb weight being the total weight of the car with standard equipment , all consumables (coolant, motor oil), full tank of fuel , no people.

C5 Z06 as 3115
C5 coupe as 3246
C5 'vert as 3248

Not suprising is that the definition of curb weight varies within goverment agencies and various other organizations.
