I'm currently in the process of installing a nitrous oxide system and I don't want to do a hack job. I need to tie the system arming switch into 12v switched power. I'm not sure where the best place to do this is. I've located the accessory power plug in the passenger footwell but I'm not sure how to "tap" into this. The owner's manual says that I should avoid splicing into the wires. Should I insert an 18 gauge wire into the plug and then re-insert it back into its socket? Is there a better place to tie into 12v switched power? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
I tapped in at the #22 fuse in the pax footwell. You can get a fuse type connector for a couple of $$ at Autozome which gives you wires to splice in. Someone posted the attached pic a while ago.
That said, the connector you found is good and I used that for another mod. There are three wires (orange, yellow, & black) that are just taped up. The yellow wire is the +12V switched I just used splice connectors.

Thanks for the advice. If I go the accessory power plug route what is the best way to "tie" into this? Should I just insert an 18 guage wire into the plug then re-insert it into its socket?
I'm probably going to go the fuse type connector off of the #22 fuse. I'd like to go with the accessory power plug adapter but I don't see any way to "tap" into it without splicing it which the owner's manual is very clear about not doing or it could void the warranty. I must be missing something. The owner's manual states 1)remove the plug and 2)don't splice into any wires. If I insert a wire into the yellow "port" of the now dangling plug will I have switched power or do I have to jam a wire into the yellow port and re-insert the plug back into the female adapter. I'm confused as to the appropriate use of this "plug". If it doesn't need to be plugged in then why is it currently plugged in, and if it does need to be plugged in how the heck can I get power from it without splicing into the wire, which potentially voids the vehicles warranty? Thanks for any insight into this!

I soldered and then shrink wrapped the hot wire lead to the yellow (switched) wire in the pigtail going to the power side of my Nitrous Panel.
Not to bust your chops
But,
I find it humorous your worried about the warranty and splicing into an unused accessory pigtail and your putting in a Nitrous kit

Cant explain why yours is plugged in. Mine was unused and taped up. You sure you have the correct one? Take a look at the pic I posted in #2 above.
If youre worried just buy the fuse connector and go the #22 route. I used that for my heated seats which is a reasonable draw and they work just fine.
