my battery does seem a little sluggish sometimes when i try to start it. maybe its time 4 a new one. thanks

need help.
hi all. I started my car today ( 2001 Z06 ) and it seemed almost like it didnt want to start. I look up at the dash and all the guages are dead so i turn car off and try to restart it. Car starts right up and guages are fine, however i get the service active handling and traction control message. I limp home with the car and park it in the garage and shut her down. After about 1 min i start it back up and no problems at all, and no service messages. Any clue whats going on here? iam new to corvettes and iam not sure how to check/run the codes to see what they throw off.

cables arent corroded, the car has only 12k miles on it and it has a newer optima red battery. When iam driving the battery has 14 volts but 4 some reason sometimes it seems like its having a hard time starting.

Another vote here for the battery. If you check your codes and if you have a bunch of No Communication codes that would also suggest that.
Is it a DD or a weekend car. if its the latter do you leave it on a battery tender? Red Tops don't like being discharged.
You could have Autozone do a free on load test to confirm if its on its way out. Or try a tender.

When you are driving the alternator "takes over" so you're not reading the battery itself. Do what DeeGee said and get it load tested at an auto parts store. It could have a dead cell.
