hi all. I started my car today ( 2001 Z06 ) and it seemed almost like it didnt want to start. I look up at the dash and all the guages are dead so i turn car off and try to restart it. Car starts right up and guages are fine, however i get the service active handling and traction control message. I limp home with the car and park it in the garage and shut her down. After about 1 min i start it back up and no problems at all, and no service messages. Any clue whats going on here? iam new to corvettes and iam not sure how to check/run the codes to see what they throw off. thanks all.
I would check the terminals. If they are corroded or the least bit loose, your battery won't charge properly & we all know how c-5's love to drain batteries.
cables arent corroded, the car has only 12k miles on it and it has a newer optima red battery. When iam driving the battery has 14 volts but 4 some reason sometimes it seems like its having a hard time starting.
When you are driving the alternator "takes over" so you're not reading the battery itself. Do what DeeGee said and get it load tested at an auto parts store. It could have a dead cell.
just got back from autozone and they tested my battery, of course it was fine. I wound up getting a new battery anyway because i never really liked that optima anyway
