I just moved to Oklahoma from Ohio. Back in Ohio when I paid for premium gas I got 93 octane gas. But here in Oklahoma when I buy premium gas I only get 91. Every station I've been too only sells 91 octane. Why? Is there any place that sells 93?

Gotta go back wif ma daughter next week ta visit ma sister.filled up on 91 works fine, corse mine's use ta 87 esept now in then a tank o 93 here in Texas, might take a extra paycheck an fill on thet 101 whilst I's thar, yew say on tha corner o 63 n' Western?

Reason: directions
Well... If my hillbilly translation decoder is correct, you are asking how to get to the station from Piedmont? From Piedmont RD. go east on NW Expressway to 63rd st. then turn north on Western, the Shell is on the west side of the street. It is probably about 15 miles depending on where in Piedmont. Let us know how much the 101 is!?!?!

We had 93 octane in Tulsa until about 2 years ago. Now, there is no place in Tulsa to buy 93. Oklahoma City has always been a tough place to find 93, even when we had it in Tulsa.
Unless you are running forced induction or a higher compression setup, you will be fine on 91 octane. If you really want to run 93 octane, you can buy Torco or Octanium race fuel to bump up your octane. I did that for a while, but is too much trouble. My new engine was built to run on 91 octane. My old setup ran fine on 91 octane also (heads, cam, headers).
Oh the car runs fine on 91 octane... though I do notice the power is down a bit due to this 100+ degree weather. I was just surprised to see the difference in octane between OK and OH. I just assumed that premium was 93 octane everywhere. Any idea why OK only offers 91?

Looks like each state and/or city will pass laws that will dictate what octane is sold in their area.............case in point, I lived in Kansas City far a couple of years and all I could find was 91..........then I moved to St. Louis and I can get 93 everywhere. You would think St. Louis being larger with more pollution they would not approve the use of the higher octane................

Ninety-three is not available in all areas of the country. If you want to make the drive south, as soon as you cross the state line into God's country, it's available everywhere.
