Fastest Z

What model year Z is the fastest? I've heard a lot of people say that the 02 is the most raced.

Depends on what you mean by "fastest" ....

If you're talking top speed .... and you're talking stock Z06 2001 thru 2004 then all have the same top speed though the 2001 will take longer to get there as it is 385 HP versus 405 HP for the 02 thru 04's. All C5 Z06's have the same gearing and rear end ... so they all have the same top speed.

If you're talking acceleration, then the 2002 thru 2004 models will be about equal as they all have a rated 400 lb ft of torque, and the 2001 would be "slower" with a rated 385 lb ft.

No idea why someone would claim the 2002 is the most "raced" .... I've seen every MY of Z06 at HPDEs ... and the 2002 has no inherent advantage over a 2003 or 2004.

If you're talking MODIFIED Z06's ... I'm sure there are some KILLER cars out there ... but you should make your question a little clearer ...

Either the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or Mad Magazine, (I can't remember which) did a study and found that BLACKZO6's are FASTER than any other color ......

The '02 does seem to have the most submissions to the Z06 Fast list. Does this mean it's a better drag car, maybe, or maybe more guys race their '02's?

There you have it 3 out of 3 Zo6 drivers agree that Black is the fastest color............might as well make this a sticky so future potential owners can have a heads up..........

Acording to GM they made the Black vettes faster to compenate for what a pain in the butt it is to keep clean
