My 2001 coup just turned 40K and almost overnight I am having all kinds of problems with squeeks associated with the interior plastic panels rubbing together. Is there a quick fix??

Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. Little bits of weather stripping tape or felt with a spot of glue can do wonders where plastic rubs.
you can pick up the dielectric grease at about any parts house, thats where I got mine, although I like the louder exhaust idea. I might have to do that
I've used spray silicon with a cardboard deflector to liberally coat all rubber and plastic problem areas (about 3 times a year).
I have an '04 though and its very quiet.
Be careful with the brand of spray silicone that you use. Strange as it is, some brands of spray silicone contain solvents that are detrimental to rubber!
One easy test is to spray the silicone into a Styrofoam cup. If the cup dissolves do NOT use it on your weather striping.

Guys
If you haven't already done so. Go to your local auto supply and pick up a tube of dielectric grease. It makes your weather stripping and all rubber surfaces appear brand new!! I never really thought about it before but rubber must leach out all of it's natural oils over time. The "D" Grease puts it back and WOW what a difference. Between the silicone going into hard surface contact areas and the "D" grease on the seals and weather stripping, my car is noticeably tighter and quieter!!
