a good way to make riding around on the roads more fun is to find a group of cars to go with. I think cruising through the rural roads away from the cities with a group of corvettes at +-5mph of the limit speed would be a blast. especially on the parkways or other scenic scenes. take it slow and easy with the top down in great company stopping every 15 minutes at the next great scenic overlook for a photoshoot with as many C5's as we can get together. Sounds like a great ride!

of course we know its only a matter of time before VA makes that illegal also, I'm sure they'll come up with some reason.

It really is easier than most people think.
Takeoff is pure drag race ..keep it straight and PUNCH it, HARD!
Landing is all head game.. you have to think about where you are, where you want to be, and do what you have to, to get there, from here.
The more you 'get into it' ..the more there is to do
Flour bombing, Spot landing contests, aerobatics, haulin some serious butt down by the tree tops (nowhere around people!)
Flyin a 'new' type and gettin signed off on it.

Yassir . . I've flown 400mph at <100 feet sittin behind a 1700hp Merlin just purrin away after a split-ess from 8500 feet.. in a TF-51D they call 'Crazy Horse.'

Say what you will .. there aint *nothin* I've done with clothes on that comes close to pure man-machine fun of that flight.

Your local flyin field will have an instructor that will let you learn to fly ..
..usually startin with a $30 'orientation' ride where they take you up in a Cessna or some such and let you take the controls to see how you like 'doin it' instead of just ridin in it.

I was hooked right at takeoff

-Frank (and ya .. tower said to keep it under 250 indicated for the overhead break to downwind for landing ..LOL)

I agree with you on that bro, im currently a student pilot (about 20 hours). I was doing all my training time in my dads Cessna 172 SP, but now he sold that and got a Piper Saratoga TC. Our whole family is pilots, and its a real thrill. Its alot cheaper then everyone thinks too, there are plenty of small, cheap planes that he could buy just to fly around

Well, I think the best advice I could give you would be to MOVE. There are places where speeding is a lot more fun, a lot safer, and a lot less stressful.

Other than that, find a good traffic lawyer and get his card. Sock a little money away to pay his fees (like maybe sell half that fleet, that would fund a LOT of tickets). Then go drive like you want. If you get a couple of convictions (which will take some doing if you always lawyer up and have a good one), THEN start worrying about having to tone it down a bit.

Valentine One, good lawyer, and PAY ATTENTION. If you're getting tickets very often, you're not doing it right.

22? Hah. I just turned 53.

P.S. Oh, and another piece of advice: DON'T do your speeding at night. You can't see the cops at night. Nothing dumber than tear-assing around at 3 AM. The cops can hear you coming, you can't see them, and their workload is low. They've got nothing better to do (hopefully) than find you and give you a ticket.

As pessimistic as it sounds, you should probably try to channel your interest into other things.

Otherwise, I can see the EMS/EMT's using tweezers to pick what's left of you off a canyon wall or a large tree somewhere.

I too learned to fly when I was 20. Forty years later, it is still the greatest rush there is. At complete peace by myself whether it be in a J-3 cub at tree top, or a high performance aerobatic plane or just a good 'get from point A to point B 'high speed transportation device'.

Find peace in other areas. Much to learn grasshopper.

Come up to VIR sometime and watch the sportbikes have fun, then go get one. I'm an instructor with Cornerspeed Rider's School (www.cornerspeed.net) and you can have more fun in one day on the track with a sportbike than you can have with just about anything else on earth. And no, you don't have to ride *****-out all day to have fun, just hook up with a riding buddy and follow each other around and then do some serious 'bench racing' when you get back to the pits. It's loads of fun, and much safer than even moderately pushing the envelope on the street, in a car OR a bike. PM me if you want any additional info.

Chill out man... it's normal. The responsibilites of becomming ad adult are inevitable and they can build up. You must find a release... mine is weight lifting and road racing (HPDEs).

We've all had those trapped feelings before... expensive toys, mortgage payment, so you HAVE to have a job to pay for it. etc. etc.

Some days I'd like to sell it all and go be a ski instructor out in Colorado or Utah.

You haven't been to VIR yet... stop modding the car and save up to run an event... it's a blast. After doing track days I have no desire to speed on the street. Esp. here in Hampton Roads w/ nothing good to drive on. Even Pungo sucks compared to some of the backroads I had access to in Nova.

I think we all go through that...
I live north of Houston and it's bad enough that there working on one major northbound highway, but there tearing up both major northbound highways at the same time... What a cluster!
Throw in a few hundred illegal aliens without valid drivers licenses and you have a recipe for disaster.
I'm moving next month closer to work.... Hopefully that will help my state of being.

Good luck to you.... Believe me... We feel ya buddy!

Totally normal Tiki---

I just went out and got a bike for a little change of pace whenever I
felt bored. Maybe a different venue would help---

Had to go to Portland and back this Thursday in the Z06 and did not see more than a couple of hundred feet of pavement in front of me for the round trip. Trucks everywhere , too many cops with radar guns looking for some easy money and lousy road surfaces. It was not a relaxing trip. I am 57 and it is not getting betting - when does it get better. I think we all need to think about the direction we seem to be going. I will try Eastern Washington this weekend.

Hey Tiki...
...first get a grip...

Run for your vette...
..and remember to make the most of the opportunities to run hard...

...and when you dont have an open opportunity...
...then remember that you are sitting in the ride that sometimes takes you where, when, and how you want to get there...

I feel your pain...
