My friend and I were leaving his his house one evening to go race our dirtbikes. After we had loaded the truck we noticed a strange sound....sort of like a hose when you don't turn the water off all the way....a mild hissing. We opened the gate and walked down the driveway to find a huge Mojave Green rattler. My friends says "wait here and make sure that the kids don't come out". He comes back out about 20 seconds later with a 357 and blew head off the snake! It was so big that he had what was left of it skinned and mounted. It's scarry to look at. Mojave Greens are among the only rattlers that will chase after you. They aren't very nice. I hate snakes and spiders.
Last year when "Snakes on a plane" was playing I happened upon a 4' to 5' black snake that had decided to beat the summer heat and crawled in my garage. I went inside and told my wife we had "Snakes in the garage". She thought I was kidding. I said come see. A shriek later I went and found a long rake and tried to pick the sucker up. He may be non-poisonous but not non-biting. When I got the rake near him he darted UNDER some of the junk I have stored in there. Took about 10 minutes moving boxes but finally pulled out enough to see him.
Got him with the rake and took him down to the OTHER SIDE of the small stream behind our house. Hope the people residing over there are snake lovers as he is probably still crawling around there keeping the rodent population down. BIGHANK
.....if you had the top off....and if the hawk had dropped the snake in your car.....you can bet that snake would have been mad!! Could have created an ugly scene!! Good thing the top was on!!
