Default modifying halo LEDs

Halo LEDs have large resistors on the back of them in order to apply additional resistance to the circuit in order to prevent hyperflash. I've installed an LED flasher in my C5 so hyperflash won't be an issue regardless. but my lights still have those resistors on the back which draw an unnecessary amount of current (since I have an LED flasher), and they get very hot! don't try to service your lights within several minutes of running your car, those resistors will burn you. has anyone tried to remove the resistors? looks like physically removing them from the Halos won't be too hard, they are held in place by 4 screws a piece. as for the wiring, will simply cutting and insulating the wires remove them from the circuit safely? if they are designed only to add additional load, and are placed in parallel with the input wires then removing them would be fine. what worries me is what if they are wired in series and part of their function is to drop the input voltage down to a safe level for the LED's if so then removing them (and shorting the wires to reconnect the circuit) could fry the LEDs, which would be a very expensive error. does anyone know? has anyone tried to remove the resistors?

Have read a lot of posts on the LED lights, but never one that dealt with taking the resistors off the back of the light housing. Hope that someone can give you a solid answer about that. TTT for you.

Given that there are many reports of hyperflash with the halos I'm going to surmise that the resistors have nothing to do with adding load and everything to do with protecting the LEDs. I'd leave them alone.

My bet is it's a little of both.

Why is the current that the resistors are drawing providing any concern to you? They probably draw less current than the stock incandescents, don't they? I don't understand the reason for the mod?
