Default BSM or no BSM

I have the body side moldings on my car and I am not sure if I like them or not. If I decide that I don't like them are they hard to remove? I assume it is just adhesive that I can remove with a heat gun?

Just wanted some thoughts and opinions if you guys like them or don't like them.

I like them on mine....will go better when I add the ACI front and rear spoilers.....Just waiting on the rear to come back from the paint shop then it will all go together.......

Its all personal preference on that one....some like 'em some don't......

They are attached with 3M tape. Im sure others who have taken theirs off will chime in and tell you how they did it.

My biggest concern is that the car is a 2004 and I worry that if I take them off the paint might be a different shade from sun fading. I would hate to remove them and have a darker stripe remain where the bsm used to be.

I know you're a NEWBEE, but sooner or later you're going to have to learn to use the "search" function!

I actually know how to use it. I own my own forum board for competitive bodybuilders since that is what I do for a living and we actually encourage people to post new threads as new info is available all the time and there are new people that will post info that you may not have gotten from pulling up an old thread. But I guess you don't encourage that at this forum so I will continue to lurk and not post, thanks.

Thanks for posting.....I do not like the BSM look, as you stated use a heat gun to remove. Has the car had any paintwork? Sometimes the BSM gets taped off if a fender or door was re-sprayed, obviously there will be a paint line left behind. Yours being an 04 you should have no issues with faded paint. What color is your car?

I removed them on my black '02. Use plenty of heat with a hair dryer, and pull gently from one end, the large end first. Use a PLASTIC (NON ABRASIVE) putty knife to gently help them off. It's double sided sticky tape holding them on.. I much prefer the look with them off. Be careful where you park!

I like the function of the BSM, but don't much care for the look. Others like the look of them. My car does not have them and from what I can tell (year, RPO codes, etc...) never had them. If you don't like the look, there are lots of threads here on how to remove, with some good pics of folks doing it. I'm sure you have seen lots of cars with / without the BSMs. Like most things, it's your car, your view, do what you want.

Thank you for your reply. My car is LeMans Blue CE. I know it has not been repainted as I bought it from my sister.

I dont have them on mine and i like the "clean" look but they also look good with. Either way you will be happy. Bought mine and they were already off so couldn't tell you what's under there.

I was looking for a Z06 without BSM. I didnt care for them until I bought a Z with them on it. To tell you the truth I don't mind them at all. In fact my wife didn't even know they were on the car until I told her it had them on it. I posted a thread around 6/25/07 asking for advice on the removal of BSM. Jet-Jock posted a detailed description on how to remove them. Doesnt seem too tough as long as you Take Your Time.

If you did search, you'd find that not only has it been asked many times, but there have been many polls. The polls always come out 50/50. I don't know why you'd want to know if someone else likes BSM's or not. The important thing is, do you? If your question is how to remove them, search will get you a detailed description and pictures. Personally, I like them and would add them if they were not on the car. If you take them off, you shouldn't have any trouble selling them.

Scroll through the Members Gallery above and under the Other menu.
Look for images in your color scheme with and without BSMs.

Then make your decision. As said it's a personal thing. I didn't like the body lines broken up so I removed mine. But I still have them in the closet should they need to be added back on.

I also try to always park well away from others, that doesn't mean that by it's color name folks are attracted to it (magnetic red!). But for the most part I just don't park it in tight quarters.

I was simply curious what other people thought. As stated I am undecided and on the fence. I did not ask how to do it, I am pretty sure I can handle that, and the only reason for the thread is due to my being undecided I value other vette owners opinions on whether they like them or not.

Yes it should only matter what I think but since I do not really have an opinion on this one way or the other I wanted to see what other people thought.
