Comprehensive shouldn't raise your rates for that type of claim......?
Unfortunately, having had the same thing happen to me with a nearly new pickup truck, unfair as it seems, they won't charge your comprehensive, they'll charge your collision coverage.
You are looking at some expensive damage, I hope you called a LEO, and filed a report. Then file a claim, they can't raise your rates unless you have made a lot of claims in the last couple of years. In that case, fix it, shop for new coverage, then ditch the company. I shop for insurance EVERY two years, and save money every time!
As noted above - you will need a police report to submit to your insurance company.
The part I believe you are looking for is the rear quarter panel - to be sure though a picture is needed to allow us to see the actual part damaged.
Before going OEM (dealership) for the replacement part - contact one of the Forum Vendors, or check the For Sale section - probably will get a better price for the material.

How is this a comprehensive claim? Comprehensive coverage by definition is fire, theft and vandalism. If someone backs into your car - it's a collision claim, whether they stop and leave their name or they are gutless morons that hit and run.
Sorry for your troubles - best of luck with the repair.

More likely uninsured/underinsured motorist claim.
Sorry to hear that, nowadays people are too scared to fess up and take responsibility!
Just don't let this keep you from taking your vette somewhere. These things happen and will continue to happen.
Perhaps you can ask around or post a flyer asking if anyone has seen the person who did it or any info on the vehicle! Could offer a small reward! Just a suggestion!
