Default Need Advice on Header Gaskets

I'm going to be installing long tube headers on my 2003 Z06. I wanted to know the best type of header gaskets and bolts to use. Can the stock gasket be re-used?

Reusing any gasket is risky, and with all the work it takes to put on LTs I'd go get a set of new stock gaskets.

GM changed the LS1 type gaskets to MLS, and that's what I'm using.

I used '98 LS1 exhaust manifold gaskets with my Dynatech LT's. They are MLS and have worked great to date. They have been on there almost 3 years without a lick of problems.

you can probably reuse them but to be safest just get new ones. they are cheap enough to not worry about it

Thanks for the input. It sounds like a new set of stock gaskets are a good way to go.

The best gaskets you can use are the GM F-body gaskets. You will find that most people are using them. The F-body gaskets have round holes Vs. rectangular on the Y-body gaskets.

Nope, can't do that. The Y-body stock exhaust gaskets have oval ports and will not seal correctly. Round exhaust ports on the gasket side are required for headers. The 98 F-body gaskets have round ports.

Go to your local NAPA and buy part number MS92467 they are made by Victor Reinz, the same ones OEM uses.

These are round holes, not ovals like someone posted above
