On a recent 1750 mi trip from Portland Oregon to Bakersfield and back I averaged 32.4 mpg !!!
I double checked the computer and it was dead on !!
Average speed was 70-75mph . Its a bone stock 2000 C5 auto. A/C on all the way.
In the city I get 18-19 mpg ! I am amazed !
Others have told me of their C5s getting these #s and I thought it was baloney.
Only message displayed on the trip was "" Windshield Washer fluid low ""
What a CAR !!!
Thanks,
Mike

Definatly a have your cake and eat it too kind of car in terms of power and milage..
What is the most efficient RPM to be doing in a stock M6? That seems to me like it would be a big determining factor in the consumption.

I seem to get about 12 city and 33 or so high way. of course my typical local driving has me getting to my destination before the car is even up to operating temperature, I think that has something to do with the bad daily commuting mpg.

My 2002 A4 w/ 3.15 gets 18-19 city and 26-27 highway. Very cool for a car with this kind of power!

Same here, but had a h/c change (435rwhp) amoung other things, and I get 33.5 at 70 75. I could barely squeek out 30 stock.

Couple of years ago i went to a shop in Phoenix to have the twin turbos installed. From Vegas it was a little over 300 miles and i averaged 28 mpg going there. Coming back with the turbos i averaged 26 mpg with my foot in it quite a bit. Commuting back and forth to work, 20 miles each way the best i could ever do was 17 mpg. Granted about 10 miles is heavy city driving but still i was surprised that was all i got. Even with spirited driving to work i will do 14-15 mpg.

Sounds pretty low to me. My 2000 hardtop averages over 30 on a freeway trip. I averaged 32.5MPG on a trip from Phoenix to Minneapolis 3 years ago when I moved back to Minnesota.
I average 25MPG with combined city/highway driving, and I don't baby the car.
I get pretty much the same milage at 60 as I do at 85 in 6th gear...

My 98 with A4 trans that the tcc lockup works occasionaly and 234xxx miles gets 22.5 combined traffic jam and open road miles.
I'm happy but know it could be better. My 40 mile commute takes a average of 1 hour ten minutes. So I sit alot on the "parkway"
