Default Driver side door lock help...

Searched, couldn't find any specific help...
98 Coupe:
Driver side door lock will not un-lock using the remote, but will lock using remote, and when driving it locks automatically, but when shutting off car, will not automatically unlock.
Any help on this? Thanks

It's almost certainly a door module failure. Its a fairly common problem.

This thread by Bakersfield explains how to fix it.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ht=door+module

Two things to try before you strip the door down. Try the "Arnold Method". Give the door a sharp rap below the door handle. Thats the location of the door module. it often unsticks the relay and it'll work again for a while.

The other thing is to wiggle the rubber gaiter in the door hinge. There's a conenctor in there that can come loose.

If either fixeds the problem youve tied down where the problem is.

Yep, I had this problem too. You can go the expensive route which is to replace the entire Door Control Module or the cheap route and do the surgery (as discussed in bakersfield's thread) on the Door Control Module. The former will cost you over $100 but the latter will only cost you $1.10 for the relay. It does help to have soldering skills. If you do the surgery route, there will be a definite sense of gratification.

here is another member web site with a fix

http://www.ronjpics.com/Corvettestuff.htm#DCM

a local electronics repair shop should do the soldering for you for about $10...
