Default tires..tires!

well i bought my 03 corvette coupe july 19th. i love it to death and going to have the car for a long time!! i was really excited when i bought it and now noticed that i made a mistake after buying it! the tires are really bad and there's not much tread left on the tires. so on saturday i washed the car and when i parked my car i turned the wheel to the right to check out the tread. well i was upset to see the drivers side tire on the very inside of the tread was showing more cord than i wanted to see!!

so i called my local tire place that i trust with my life and priced some tires, so they gave me these prices..remember there runflat tires!

goodyear front: 369 rear: 425
michelin front: 249 rear: 349
kuhmo front: 189 rear: 280

well after reading many posts from you guys on this site i decided on the michelin runflat pilots

so what do you guys think and the price..is it a good price??

thanks for the advice!

Go to Tirerack.com. They are $217 for the fronts and $308 for the rears. If price your local guy quoted included mounting & balancing, it is a decent price...otherwise I would try to talk them down a little.

My car is a daily driver and I will never go to runflats again. The difference in ride, weight, and handling is nothing short of astounding. Each runflat tire weighs 6 lbs more than its equivalent non-runflat. That and the reduced sidewall stiffness transforms the ride, tremendously.

I prefer to make my purchases from local businesses whenever possible, and that's what I did when I purchased the set of 4 Michilen Pilot
A/S ZPs for my '00 coupe. I paid really close to the prices you were quoted above for the Michelins, mounted, balanced (life time), out the door price. I did provide new TPS O-Rings. Oh, and I really love these new tires. Just can't believe how much quieter and better the ride now.

I am cheap and bought a pair of these for the rear, they got pretty good reviews, and having gone thru 3 sets on the rear I figured cant hurt. I had Kuhmo (sp) the last 2 times.
