Rear view mirror/Windshield Replacement
When I had my windshield replaced, twice actually, the first time they installed defective glass; thus they had to remove the mirror twice. Each time these guys used a screwdriver to pry it loose and that is not the way to do it. Had I known I would have stopped them.
It is very simple and requires no tools to remove or install. If you grab both sides of the mirror with both hands on the outer edges and rock it back and forth while lifting it will come free fairly easy. DO NOT PULL! Release the electrical connection, squeeze the locking tab and pull the connector.
To install it reconnect the electrical connection and slide the mirror down onto the mounting plate fixture. Holding the mirror again by the outside edges with both hands apply downward pressure until it snaps into place. It is an obvious 'click.'
Hope this helps anyone in the future and saves them from an unnecessary expense.
Otherwise once damaged, the mirror shakes like a 40 year old junker.
