Long story, but true. I had always loved Vettes and had several friends that owned vettes, but had never owned one myself. I turned 50 August of 2005. In September a friend of mine aproached me at work and told me she knew where I might get a good price on a 1999 FRC with 23K miles. Her husband worked for an auction company and there was a vette being auctioned in an estate auction. I wasn't planning on going, but I told my wife about it and she said "you've always wanted one, let's at least go look at it". I said your kidding, right. She was serious. The auction was in October and a 120 miles away. I had pretty much forgotten about it, because I had not planned on going, and the Saturday that the auction was taking place I was recovering from a week long audit at work and had decided to sleep in that morning. My wife woke me at 6:30 and said get up it's time to get going, if we're going to get to the auction on time. I said your crazy, we're not going, let me sleep. So, as we drove down, I said I can't believe we're doing this. to sum up a long story, we get there and the vette is setting in a barn cover with dust and Wasp nets in the side mirrors. I bought the vette for $18,500. I owe it all to my wonderful wife. Ear to Ear all the way home.
Where's the pictures? Without the wasp nests however! Good Luck on your find...........Did I mention that we all would like to see some pictures? If you want to post some pictures get a www.photobucket.com account then start a thread and clipboard your "IMG" link in there and you have some pictures. Let's see her!
If it's pics you are only planning on sharing once then you can use www.tinypic.com to share them. No account needed, just upload and link them. By once, I mean it gives you the link and you can share it so it appears in the post on a site such as this but it's hard to find the pic to link it at a later date again unless you document it.
Don't forget to wave!!!! I bought a Vette because I heard that we all wave at each other. HAUDOIN (California) didn't wave at me. He was too good for that I guess even though we were driving identical cars next to each other @ 5mph for 15 minutes on the 118 freeway. HAUDOIN must have been borrowing his friends car!!!! I just wanted to vent.......
Let me see now..........HMMM....We have the following terms to accurately pinpoint the exact usage of our Corvettes, and I believe we now have a new one thanks to this new Corvette owner:
"DD" or Daily Driver
"Garage Queen"
"Museum Piece" (my personal favorite)
