I appreciate the opinions, all are considered. The plan is to see what they'll give me for my trade-basically working it as a separate deal, then we'll talk about the price of the Vette, my down payment, and then the financing of the difference. Buying from a dealership, I believe you'll always pay a bit more, and I understand that, but I've got a car that I plan to trade in. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. We'll see what happens.

I sold my '02 (Red Racer) last summer for $26,300. 31K seems a bit much for an '03. You must be looking at Friendly Chevrolet...

In any case, good luck with the purchase.
That's a pretty good price, the lowest I can find in LA is about 43K for a stripped down model.

I think that everyone just needs to do what makes them happy. When you find the car you want for the price you want, and it makes you happy-then you got a good deal. Every market is different (Yes, out of state buying is getting easier and easier and making this difference diminish, but I believe it still exists.)

There was another thread from today I was reading and someone said, "A low mileage C5 will run into the low 30s."

Then you have others that say that's too much.

We all need to do what makes us happy.

(Yeah, that's right, I'm agreeing with myself)

Thanks. I will.

On another note, I had no idea you sold your C5. Did you buy another Vette? I thought I saw you at the XXX Rootbeer show.

Yeah...sold it last summer. I was at the XXX show last month just to look at Vettes and see people I knew. Still haven't replaced Red Racer, but plan to one of these years.

I would recommend checking Carmax.com and then looking at corvettes for sale all stores...

2003's are going from 29K to 33K, but should be much cheaper from a private party.

I got lucky and got my 2003 for about 27K about 6 months ago from Carmax, but I don't have HID, dual tops and Chrome wheels. If you know about the options, mine is the base called 1SA.

Yours sounds like a 2SA, which adds about 2K to the price, so 29K is a good range in my option or lower based upon millage and options.

That's high.

I bought my '04 over a year ago with only 5104 miles on it for 32. An '03 now a year and a half later with 17k for 31 isn't a good deal at all. Bought it not all that far from you, actually.

I don't think you should go over 30k for this car, and probably less.

You have no reason to rush. Wait for the right one to come. It took me the better part of 3 months to select my first vette and even longer than that to turn up the one I have now. Keep shopping and you'll turn up the right car at the right price.

An 03 is now a 5yr old car..The low mileage is a big plus but I don't think i'd pay more than $25k for it..When my 99 was 5yrs old it had 20k miles on it and I bought it from the original owner for $23k..

Thanks for all the tips.

All I said was that 31 was written on the back of the business card. That was standing in the parking lot. It'll be a bit of a different story when I have my backup bulldog (Vette driving father) sitting next to me. I'm not afraid to admit that I want him there. At 24 years old, I have only owned 2 cars-he has much more experience in this regard. I've had the car I plan to trade in for almost 6 years.

I recieved a PM from another member saying that they bought an 03 coupe a couple months ago with only 5,000 miles on it for 31k. This person happend to buy their Vette less than 15 minutes from where I live.

Oh, and please don't take anything I'm saying as "hostile." I don't mean to come off that way.
