a 20% shorter throw sounds pretty good. does your car shift easier and smoother now? did this help with the so called Notchiness of the stock shifter?
what kind of amsoil did you use, I've never looked at them, so I don't know if there are different types. do you know if its safe for a 99? apparently royal purple isn't a good choice for a 99 because it eats the seals, so I want to make sure I get something which will not ruin my tranny!
I don't know what people mean about notchiness in the stock C5 shifter. My stock C5 shifter was very vague and sloppy in my opinion. Also as others have mentioned I had a huge problem getting the thing to go into 1st gear from a standstill. It would partially engage then I would let out the clutch and bzzzz it would not be engaged. I got so I had to double step the clutch every time to get it into first or just downshift into first before I came to a stop and then sit there wearing out my pilot bearing waiting for the light to change. Anyway after I installed the Kirban and set the stops properly, I have never had ANY problems getting her into first gear from a dead stop. That was worth its weight in gold to me. Now about the stiffness, It is stiffer than stock because it is spring loaded side to side so that 2-3 and 3-4 shifts are impossible to miss. I do not feel that it is excessive, especially for a performance car. However that is completely subjective, so unless you find someone to let you test drive their car with one installed it will be a blind decision to order any shifter. I also changed the trans fluid to Amsoil Synthetic ATF, It may just be my imagination but that seems to smooth things out a bit also. Totally safe for 97-99 M6 with the paper thingies.
I had a Hurst and felt the same way. Then I bought the C6Z06 shifter. It's smoother, but the shifts are REALLY long compared to the Hurst. It took me a while to adjust. I'm not thrilled with the shifter, but I actually really like the C6 ****. MTI's 6-Shooter was supposedly the best combination of throw and smoothness, but they pulled them after about half the owners complained about rattles. They're supposedly redesigning them, but it's been months now and every time I call down there I get the runaround.
C6 Z06 shifter is the only way to go. bolts on in about a half hour. perfect fit and height. I love mine and it was only about $180. You can use your stock shifter boot if you cut about 1/2 inch to an inch off it and zip tie it on the inside
I should see if I could feel one and try shifting it. the reason I don't like the C6 shifter once I found out more about it are that it isn't strait, I think a bent shifter would feel strange to shift. and the ****, which has nothing to do with feel or performance, I just think it looks out of place in the C5, it doesn't match the interior lines at all.
do you have any detailed info on the anti-venom mod? searches seem to turn up a bunch of threads which say there is a thread out there with step by step pictures, but no one knows where it is.

Anyone know anything more about the link above regarding this shift ****. I tried emailing the company, but they do not respond. I have an 08 Coupe and wanted to just change the ****, not the shifter... I can't find a website that has ***** for the C6 Coupe except for the different color *****. I am looking for something WITHOUT the "shift numbers" on the ****....
Anyone? Photos with links on where to purchase would be TRULY appreciated!!
I heard the BPP shift was good, anyone have that and like it? I guess if B&M is really "the best" i'll go with that, its about $50 cheaper anyway!
I have the BPP, 16-way adjustable shifter - it really is easy to get it to match YOUR physique, instead of an average-build person. You can angle and position the shifter until it is just perfect.
Yes, the effort is high and the shifts are super-short, BUT a solution is 20 minutes away. Simply remove the ball detent fitting that is threaded into the tranny case, and space it it out approx .07 - .01-inch, using a copper washer. The result? Much easier shifts (up and down) with the same super-short-throws. You get the best of both worlds and the added cost is about $3.00 or less.
