X-pipe install?
Looking at my x-pipe (that has been in the garage since June) and I am wondering exactly how I am supposed to put this x-pipe on? It looks like there is some cutting of the existing pipe...Being that I will be tring this on my own, I am not sure how to cut the old and replace it with the new....The X-pipe I have is used, so no directions..

BTW, if you don't have access to a Sawzall, you can use a chain cutter too. Works great and leaves nice smooth edges. Just needs a little touch-up filing after the cut. You may even be able to rent one.

Do it like Chip mentions. I went to a local muffler shop and had them do the install - cost was only $30 so well worth it to not have to do the cutting myself.

I too had mine done from a muffler shop, well worth the 40bucks...
Hold the x pipe up into position with the rear flanges lined up with the old ones to mark the length onto the existing pipes. Don't forget to allow for some of the old pipe to side into the x pipe. I used a fine tooth blade in a sawzall to buzz right though. I also ground off about 3/4" off the end of the blade. That way I could hold the saw straight up and down and the blade would not hit the floor of the car. Use stainless band clamps. Position the bolts of the clamp to the inside slightly turned up so they won't rub on anything and you can access the bolts easily. My gaskets at the flanges broke so you may want to have a couple on hand when you do it. My x pipe did not have threaded flanges so the stock bolts would not work. Had to use longer bolts with nuts. It was a used x pipe so maybe new ones come with the bolts. A helper makes the job easier. Especially to align the tips of the mufflers. Not a hard job to do yourself.
If anything....leave extra because you can always cut more off.
My husband took the measurements and we did the cuts. While installing the Corsa - discovered we were about 1/2" too far towards the rear and the pipes were hitting the crossmember. So - off with the X-pipe and cut 1/2" off and we were good to go.

I used a chain cutter on mine. It is a tool with a handle and what looks like a bicycle chain on the end. The chain has cutting wheels in it. The chain is wrapped around the pipe and wrenched back and forth with the handle. They make great cuts on pipes and you don't have to remove your exhaust.
Spend some extra time fitting/measuring/eyeballing/imagining before you make your cuts.
