White calipers?
I've been searching past threads for anyone who has done white calipers, but haven't found anyone who's done it. There were several threads inquiring about this, but nobody has stepped up to admit doing it.
Just picked up a white '01 for the wife today, and will start my winter customizing project in a couple of weeks. Wheels and brakes are of a primary focus. I will also be doing the interior and engine compartment in white, so I think that white calipers would be appropriate, but would love to see any pics of 'em.
Anyone out there done it?
I have asked about it before ... I think most people think it would be a problem to keep clean. I think it could look nice and I don't think keeping them clean would be that big of an issue. I may consider doing it on my car at some point.

I've seen white calipers on other cars (not a C5) and in no time they looked terrible. Seems they are very hard to keep clean, unless you want to constantly work at it.

Hey there "drummer boy" I have a Speedway White '01 convertible and just rebuilt my brakes and handpainted my calipers. I briefly thought of the other colors to paint my calipers and if you are not sure, paint 'em red! I got the kit from Duplicolor in red. Do yourself a favor however, my Duplicolor paint brush that came with the kit came apart when I was cleaning it. I went to Home Depot and picked up a kit of small paint brushes and had a much better behavior from the brushes. I never thought I would say this but the red calipers are the way to go on Speedway White. I can post a picture if you need...be warned however...they are not perfectly clean...just went on a Corvettes and Cobra cruise and well...she needs a wash.
Here's the picture....it was a hurried picture so please forgive the quality and lighting...

white will change color and look bad over time and also will show a lot of dirt...go with chrome if you want something different. I went with a custom dark red metallic powdercoat on my artic white and it's just the look I wanted

The red looks okay...I have it on my red 99, but there will be no red anywhere else on the car. The black is an option.
I will probably use powdercoat, so color shifting doesn't concern me...powdercoat is pretty stable in this situation. Cleanliness may be a bigger issue, but I tend to keep my cars pretty clean.
I was hoping that someone else may have pics of white calipers, but nobody has stepped up yet. I will probably try doing them in white. Powdercoat isn't that expensive, and if it sucks, I'll just re-do them. I WILL post pics of 'em if I do them. I'm going to put wheels, rotors, rotor covers, etc on them at the same time. I will start in a couple of weeks, and will document it.
Thanks
I found that sanding the calipers before powdercoating provides a smoother surface that doesn't trap dirt in places such as stamping numbers or casting flash. Also, adding a clear powdercoat increases the color depth.
If you powdercoat them that will keep the brake dust from sticking and making them look nasty after a short while versus painting. The powdercoated finish is much harder than any type of paint and will resist the dirt and heat damaging effects much better, although white might be a stretch, and you might be setting yourself up for a lot of frequent caliper cleaning to keep them looking sharp.
IMO I think gloss black calipers looks very good on a white vette. Black will also be much less of a hassle to keep clean for longer periods of time. If you go the powdercoated route i posted some pics and information today under the Mag Red Caliper color thread, in this same section. Wheels also make a huge visual impact. Good luck with your choice and post some pictures when your finished with the mods.
These are powdercoated, I also thought of white but ran into the same opinions you are so I didnt do it, would still like to see one though I think it would look good(when clean)...

I received the same response when I asked , I think I'm going to go with dark blue, but I understand you don't have other colors on car to work with. Chrome would be sharp, good luck choosing
I painted mines yellow and was concern about keeping them clean. They aren't that bad to keep clean at all. I use simple green and it works great. Do it, you can always change the color. Good luck!
