Engine compartment light

Engine compartment light
My engine compartment light doesn't come on when the hood is raised. I checked the fuse and bulb which are both good, what else is there to making the light to come on?

Follow the wire down from the light to a connection..........make sure that this connection is made.................

put a volt meter on the connector which attaches to the radiator shroud, just below where the light is. see if you get good power there. the mechanism which turns the light on and off is built into the light itself (looks like a gravity switch), so you should have 12V there. if you do, use an ohm meter to see if either of the wires from the connector to the terminals in the light housing have high resistance or are open circuits. if you find one, repair the wire.
but if you are messing around in that light with the power on be careful! you really don't want to short that light housing out if its got power...ask me how I know!

I bought mine new, and it was unplugged from the dealer, Check behind the heat Panel under your hood I'm sure it's unplugged. After making sure that it worked after I plugged it together, I unplugged it so I wouldn't wear the battery down.

Thanks ! you guys are great. It was corrosion in the connector that clips into the radiator housing. some wd-40 and a small brass brush with some effort cleaned it right up.Thanks again.
