Would they do anything good? How bad could they be aside from codes?
I just want to know if they are worth the time, or are worthless.
Are you talking about the AIR tubes? All they do is inject fresh air into the exhaust manifold. The pump is not driven off the engine. If you remove them they can be edited out.
I was looking at all the parts they sell on sites that sell mods for late modle GM cars etc and saw EGR blockoff plates, I've never looked to see if the c5 has them, but I thought at least all OBDII+ cars had them for some reason, could easily be wrong though as it was a hearsay kinda thing.
You can see the EGR hose in the top pic and the entry point with the hose removed in the right side of the bottom pic. The light grey one next to it is the aftermarket FAST LSx replacement manifold. Notice the EGR is blocked of on that one.
If you decide to remove the air tubes, there is a bolt holding the rear tube to the back of the driver side head. It is hell to get to. You can not see it, so you must loosen it by feel only. The good news is you only have to loosen it, not remove it, but I hope you have small hands. Removing the system, the pump is under the left headlight, won't gain you any power, but it would shave a couple of pounds. As was said above, you will have to have the error codes programmed out.
