There are lots of threads on this problem. There was a reacall for the early C5's to have this fixed. Even the recalls did not help. There are some c5's that from one day to the next your steering will not unlock. You can find kits to bypass this system. Just do some searching on here and you will find more topics and fix's

First tip. Don't go near the dealer. The recalls (all 3 of them) are useless.
Your profile doesn't say whether you have an A4 or an MN6. If its an MN6, do you have a CLB fitted?
If not, it would be a good time now before the wheel locks up
