Default How do I replace the SECURITY lamp???

I noticed today that the SECURITY lamp (in the red circle below) on the dash, near the defogger vents does not blink? How do I check/replace this?

It's a light sensor, it doesn't blink.

there's a security light that flashes on the radio by the volume **** if you have a code entered, there's also a yellow light that says security in your instrument panel.

Dont feel bad, you're not the first to make that mistake

Its the sensor for the twilight sentinel system. It senses the ambient light conditions and, when low, pops up the headlights and turns the lamps on. You have to have TS activated on the DIC for this system to work (except on canadian cars where its permanently activated).

To check it out make sure TS is on and the car is in bright sunlight. Cover the sensor with your hand and the lights should pop up.

Hey..it's all good. There's been a lot of crazy stuff asked on the Forum but don't be embarrassed a bit. You know what they say about there's no stupid questions here. You probably saved someone else from asking.

That's real cool!! Mine is a 98, I did not understand the TS part? Is that something under options (I did not see any there) or yet another hidden switch I did not stumble upon ... and my wife complains that I spend way too much time with the C5 than her

It should be in the owner's manual. Here is a cut & paste of the section;

Twilight (Optional in United States,
Standard in Canada)

Press the OPTIONS button until TWILIGHT-OFF
appears on the display, then use the RESET button to
page through the following selections:
• TWILIGHT – ON
• TWILIGHT – OFF
If you choose TWILIGHT – ON, press the OPTIONS
button again to display DELAY TIME 1 2 in the DIC.
Use the OPTIONS button to switch between delay time
1 and 2. You can increase the delay time by pressing
button 1 (1 FUEL) or decrease the time by pressing
button 2 (2 GAGES). Each bar is equal to 12 seconds.
