AS happened to many people here, the remote of my 2000 coupe is going crazy. I see that it is fairly common to go dead and after 7 years I understand is time to replace it.
Having using the keyhole for a week it came to my attention that locking the driver's door, doesn't lock the passenger one.
Is this normal? Should both doors lock when you turn clockwise your key at the door?
please advise...
Thanks
When you use your key in the door you are manually locking the door. Since you are not activating the electronic locks you are only locking the door your key is in.
As the previous poster stated. it would be better to activate your electric locks as you exit the car after verifying that you have not left your keys in the car.
My understanding is the 2000 fob is unique. If you go to replace it make sure you get the same model #. Other #s work on other years. I've seen these on Ebay under $100.
Try the panic feature on the FOB. If it works, it is not the FOB or the receiver. You may have a bad door control module.
You say by locking the driver's door the passenger does not? Not even by the electric lock on the driver's door? Then it just may be the door control module.
BTW, the 2000 FOB is unique, only a 2000 will work.
Here's some interesting trivia, if you turn the key to the right and back once, it unlocks your driver door. Turn it to the right and back twice and it pops your trunk/hatch. Not the passenger door though. As stated make sure you get the right fob, 2001 and up are much cheaper, but won't work on your 2000
Correction: See later post.

on my y2k, turning once to the right unlocks the driver's side, twice unlocks the passenger side, and three times pops the hatch.

That's the way mine works too, if you start with both doors locked, one turn unlocks the driver, two turns unlocks the passenger, third turn pops the trunk. If you start with the passenger already unlocked, the second turn pops the trunk. At no time did the driver door key turn lock the passenger door, though.
