Ok folks, I need some input. I have a C-5 Red Z06. I had the shiny chrome letters on the rear of the car inserted in the "CORVETTE" name. Over the years some of the letters have lifted off.
I have decided to get the existing letters removed and have the "inset" painted. The dilemma is do I get them painted "silver" which looks look a "pewter" or do I get them painted black?
The painted silver will not look like shiny chrome; the black will probably offset the red color?
The question being is what are the opinions of the forum members? Pros and Cons???
If the only choices are paint the letters silver, or paint them black, I would go with black.
My personal preference would be remove the chrome letters and leave the letters the body color as it came from the factory. Make everyone guess what kind of car it is!
I would not get the embossed area painted. Use the stick on lettering kits. I don't care for the chrome or ss inserts. I had a red C4 and now a silver C5. I used black inserts. the ones that look black in the day but at night when headlights hit them, they reflect like the tail lights do.
Another vote for Black.
I currently have the reflective decals and love them.
I had an issue with the front decal where some of it was lifting up but I can look past it as I plan to cut it up and do the "screened license plate fresh air mod"
However in keeping everyone guessing you could just fill in the embossed areas and remove the crossed flags decals then no one would know what kind of car it is
