I want to get rid of my F45 suspension. It sems like a big hassel to take the car to somebody to have the whole tech2 thing done, it's also a little pricey. I want to keep the F45 in tact so I don't want to cut anything which means the resistor mod is out. Does anybody know where I could get the F45 simulators (other than LAPD- they want $200) for a reasonable price?
I think there is a way to disable F45 without using a tech II. It basically required following a certain procedure to remove the F45 Computer module. The procedure was very specific though and if it wasnt followed excatly, will result in codes. I did some quick searching but i couldnt find the link. I know that i have the page saved at home though so once i get home i can post it up.
Also, it didnt involve cutting any wires...

Ask all you want of F45 from me and I will tell .. I just bought these sims from covettegarage, service was great, delivered on time, instructions are straight forward, the cheapest in town I could find ..
OK I found the link i was thinking of and it describes how to turn off F45 WITH a techII on 97 and 98 vettes. I guess they are different from the 99 and newer...my bad
I had a shop turn it off with a Tech II. Took them 5 minutes on my '01 coupe and they charged me $40. Some specialty shops will have a Tech II so that you don't have to go to the dealership.
This is what I would recommend, no need for the sims.
I was told that the resistor was better than the software change. They were going to do the tech2 for free, but then decided to put the resistors in. I figured it was a good price because they failed to order in a defective torque converter for 2 months, so they owed me a favor, and they had the back end apart to install the toque converter. The total estimate on the job was 1 1/4 hours labor, bill was 371.00.
The Koni FSD are very good. I think they are better than the F45s.
Thanks. Anybody know of a SOCAL shop that will do this without bending me over?
I'm not in So Cal, but I would try LAPD or another forum vendor. Ooops, I just noticed that you have talked to LAPD already. I'm sure there's someone down there with a Tech II to help you out. If not take a nice cruise to No Cal and I can recommend a couple shops that have them.

They both provide the same objective which is to turn off the F45 option. I would assume its easier to pull the resistors off if you wanted to go back to f45 than to find someone with a tech II to re-enable the option. Other than that tho, theres no real benefit.

They had the tech 2 there, and previously offered to turn off the F45 for free. That is why I had the work done there. He said it was better. Why I don't know. I thought it was funny that the bill was 371 for an estimated 1 1/4 hours labor. Maybe I got the bait and switch?
